Welcome Women!

The women of the Presbytery of Southwest Florida are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our PCA sisters. You will find that Tampa is a beautiful city, with many attractions for you to enjoy. The Tampa Convention Center is open and spacious, perfectly suited for community… meeting and greeting friends – both old and new.

The theme of General Assembly 2000 is Consecrating the Church – Confronting the Culture. At the WIC luncheon and in the seminars, we will be encouraged and challenged by this theme. We hope you will enjoy our warm hospitality in this Florida city. And, we are praying that when you return home, you will be refreshed in body, renewed in spirit, and ready to confront our culture with truth and compassion.

Please note: The brand new Marriott Hotel, located just across from the Tampa Convention Center, will be the anchor hotel for the Women’s and Nursery Activities. The Luncheon and Seminars, the Hospitality Room, and the Toddler/Nursery Rooms are located in the Marriott.

WIC Hospitality and Prayer Room

Beginning Monday afternoon, the WIC Hospitality Room will be open. This room is located in the Marriott hotel on the Banquet Level. Beverages will be available, and there will be hostesses to greet you. They will be available to answer questions, carry on a pleasant conversation and even pray with you.

This room will be the location for our early morning prayer time on Wednesday (8:00AM) and Thursday (8:00AM) mornings. Afternoon activities will also be centered here, with an opportunity to gather for fellowship, or to participate in the craft times (see schedule under ‘Tours’).

WIC Tours and Crafts

Spend the day in Historic Dade City or enjoy Christmas in June at Rogers' Christmas House and Village. Take an afternoon cruise in Tampa Bay or grab the kids and head to Adventure Island. There are tours for you to choose on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. See the enclosed page for descriptions and prices. The WIC Tours will depart from the front of the Marriott hotel at the announced times. For those of you who would prefer to stay close by, there will be craft activities in the Hospitality Room on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. See the descriptions and prices under "Crafts" and sign-up on the registration sheet!

WIC Program and Luncheon

The WIC Program (9:00-11:30AM) and Luncheon (11:45-12:45PM) is scheduled for Wednesday in the Marriott. The featured speakers for the program will be much-loved and recently-retired, Frank and Barbara Barker. They will share with us the importance of our families being the starting points for confronting our culture with compassion. They will be teaching us life lessons about marriage, family, ministry and yes, even the transitions into the retirement years. This program will be followed by a fresh, tropical luncheon.

Menu

  • Citrus Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast Served over Crisp Garden Green Lettuce With a Key Lime or Mango Vinaigrette Dressing

  • Fresh Baked Rolls and Butter

  • Key Lime Pie

WIC Seminars

On Thursday, there will be the opportunity to attend two sessions of seminars. These are designed to encourage you to consecrate yourself to the Lord, renew your love for His church, and challenge you to confront our culture with compassion through mercy ministries. Seminar descriptions and the registration forms are enclosed in this packet. The seminar locations will be on the Banquet Level of the Marriott.

Many churches are challenged by the gospel’s imperative that we care for the "least of these" in our community, but don’t know where to begin.
